In Memoriam
BILL DENTON 1938-2014

The Mercedes-Benz Club of America mourns the loss of its friend and board member, Bill Denton, who passed away suddenly July 20, 2014. Bill joined the MBCA in 1984 after he purchased his 300SD and immediately became an active member of the O’Hare Section (now the Chicagoland Section) and the Midwest Region.

With his wife Jeannie always by his side, Bill set forth to conquer the art of excellence in presentation and performance of every Mercedes-Benz he owned. Bill and Jeannie did just that with a long list of cars, most notably their 1983 300SD, 1985 380SL, 1986 300E, and 2002 C32. The couple attended many StarFest events together, along with a countless number of local and regional club functions across the country.

Bill graduated from General Motors Institute (now Kettering University) and Iowa State University. He married Gloria Jean (Jeannie) Coleman in 1978. Bill was a loyal employee of Trane (Ingersoll Rand) for 51 years, where he worked as an energy systems engineer.

A 20-year board member and the current National Treasurer, Bill served the MBCA tirelessly and with the utmost integrity. While he served the MBCA in a national capacity, his true love was participating and assisting sections in presenting events where members enjoyed their cars and the company of fellow comrades: As Bill would say, “That is what MBCA is all about.”

The MBCA is grateful to Bill for decades of service and friendship and members will treasure the many good memories of their time with him.  Terry Kiwala
