This past year was certainly not what any of us envisioned a year ago. There have definitely been a lot of disappointments, but the Club has seen some great successes this year too.

This past year was certainly not what any of us envisioned a year ago.  There have definitely been a lot of disappointments, but the Club has seen some great successes this year too.

First and foremost in my mind, of course, is the Strategic Plan. We’ve had some hiccups along the way, but we are back on the road again towards our goal of setting this organization up for success long into the future.

One of our first successes this past year was the hiring of our new Star editor, Jeff Zurschmeide.  This has been a challenging way to begin, but he has successfully stepped up to the challenge.

During the initial surge of the virus, there were shutdowns all over the country and people were suddenly stuck in their homes and learning how to keep working in a new way.  We were no different.  Our staff figured out how to keep serving our members in spite of having to close the office and work from their homes.  And the Social Media Committee stepped up and put car shows and tech sessions online to help people stay connected and be part of our community from their own living room.

Last, but by no means least, is the reinvention of our National Event.  As we look at reinventing the organization to align with the future, we have to start now to change the way we are doing things.  Well, there’s no better place to start than with our new National Event, Mercedes Freude, or The Joy of Everything Mercedes, premiering in November 2021 in conjunction with the new Legends of the Autobahn-East.  This will be the new face of the Mercedes-Benz Club National Event and it’s going to be a great one! The Joy of Everything Mercedes!  See you there!
