IN THE FAST LANE
 
When I heard these three words, “Want a ride?” my mind raced to find an answer suitable for me to stay within a certain and safe comfort zone. However, my simple reply communicated something quite the opposite: “Sure.”

Imagine yourself as a passenger racing down a straightaway in a powerful V-8 that is pushing to tap out. On the outside, I was cool and collected, but inside my inner-child was flipping cartwheels and screaming with pure joy. Thank you, Julie Bruggner, for a thrilling and unforgettable ride. Yes, I’m still smiling.

The Mercedes-Benz Club of America’s Gemütlichkeit 2015 offered an exceptional experience for attendees throughout the entire weekend – and it wasn’t only driving related. However, the biggest takeaway in value with a safe driving and track event go far beyond the weekend thrill and camaraderie. These kinds of events save lives as members learn how their vehicle will handle in potential extreme situations. Job well done, Western Reserve and Pittsburgh sections.

More work to be done

Summer 2015 was packed with some amazing section, regional and national events and, there are still plenty of things happening for the remainder of the year: Visit www.mbca.org/upcoming-events to find something close in your area.

As 2015 comes to and end, though, some have been working on 2016. You should have received information about StarFest® 2016, hosted by the Minuteman Section. The four-day event will be filled with track events, driving rallies, nautical cruises, a Ladies of Mercedes event and a concours d’elegance, all capped with a Grand Awards Banquet. From our family to yours

As you read this column, the holidays will be upon us; we’ll have the opportunity to meet new friends and greet our old friends. As we expand our relationships within the club, our family grows and membership in the MBCA becomes something much more special. I’m learning this quickly and I’m inspired.
