Happy New Year & Welcome to 2019

The past four years have continued to offer an incredible experience; I’ve the privilege to continue working with many amazing volunteers and team members every day. I sincerely enjoy the opportunity to connect with members at various events.

We have new leaders that joined the board and some who have completed their period in office. Our appreciation to Joe Grattan, Past Mid-Atlantic Regional Director; Daniel Cabrera, Past Southeast Regional Director; John Briggs, Past Great Lakes Regional Director; and Mason Beale, Past Director at Large for offering their valued leadership and serving on the board.

MBCA and the future

As we enter the new year, the new Executive Committee and National Board are well positioned to set the tone for the future. Exactly one year ago, I wrote that the auto industry and membership organization industries continue to shift and car clubs will be obligated to adapt to meet member expectations; this hasn’t changed.

During the past year, the national officers and staff have worked tirelessly to identify what the future holds. Among many items, technology continues to be an ever-changing driving force in how organizations operate. The team has been focused on setting the stage for improving online technology, primarily the website and membership database. It has been a long, anticipated time coming. But all the efforts to this point have established the framework for creating a solid foundation for implementing critical improvements to enhance the member’s experience.

I am not one to promote cool things before they arrive because sometimes they can be a bust. However, what I am seeing motivates me. As there might still be a bit more time before you can experience the improvements, be assured that good things are on the horizon.

Mercedes-Benz Club of America continues to be the largest and best Mercedes-Benz car club in the world. I look forward to continuing to work with leadership, volunteers and members as we proceed to navigate and shape the future and continue to provide extraordinary value to our members.

Memory Lane

As I wrote this column, I reviewed what I wrote in my first Executive Director Message four years ago. I wrote that my goal as Executive Director was simple: To continue to enhance your Mercedes-Benz experience by providing exceptional products, services, and events that promote the rich heritage and create long-lasting memories. This hasn’t changed. This club is filled with members who share the common passion of Mercedes-Benz that fosters friendships that last a lifetime. I can now say this is true because I have experienced it firsthand.

I have met many members during the past four years. I look forward to meeting many more during the coming four years.
