Springtime in MBCA

There are many reasons to anticipate the arrival of spring. For members of the Mercedes-Benz Club of America (MBCA), it means the arrival of driving season. If technical sessions are an indicator of things to come, MBCA Sections around the country have planned events that herald spring’s arrival: Section newsletters are filled with announcements for scheduled spring-maintenance and detailing sessions. It is springtime at the MBCA.

The upcoming StarTech 2013 is the premier technical session for MBCA members. It is a biennial gathering of Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts who share their expertise about the maintenance, detailing, customization and restoration of their favorite cars. The Alabama Section is hosting StarTech this year at the Mercedes-Benz US International factory and training center near Birmingham, Alabama. The event will include a tour of the MBUSI facility for StarTech attendees. Registration is available now at www.regonline.com/mbcastartech2013, which you can access from the StarTech2013.org website. You will be informed, inspired and enthused at StarTech 2013. I look forward to seeing you there.

There is a perceptible feeling of energy among our members; there has never been a better time to be a member of the MBCA. Your club continues to grow, reinvent and expand the benefits of membership. Membership in the MBCA is at its highest level since 2007, and growth continues to climb. In a 21st-century fashion, your club has introduced apps for popular mobile phone and tablet devices; the MBCA website is a model for automobile enthusiast organizations; and the National Board is refreshing the club’s national events’ structure and menu. This is a time of creativity, innovation and member participation.

If you have considered the European Delivery Program, why not pair that with one of the German trips for MBCA members? There are two scheduled for 2013. Each expedition offers unique discovery and exploration opportunities for MBCA members. Registration forms for these forays to Germany are available at www.mbca.org. It will be worth the trip.

Last fall, longtime South-Central Regional Director Charles Boyd elected to leave the National Board. Among other responsibilities, Charles offered a unique perspective and served as Board parliamentarian. Thank you, Charles, for your service to the MBCA.

There are many opportunities to join with MBCA members during 2013. The events calendar includes a full menu of participation opportunities such as tours, technical sessions, car shows and other gatherings. It’s all about the experience.

Let’s drive ’em
