Do you still remember when you acquired your first Mercedes-Benz? I bought my first MB in September of 2008 because I wanted to start exploring the country and I wanted to do that in a really fun, but comfortable, car. Like most first-time MB buyers, I didn’t know about the Club. In fact, it was almost 2 years later that I heard about it, looked it up online, and joined. I thought it would be a good way to find events to go to and give me things to do in different areas of the country. I had no idea it would lead to so many wonderful friends from coast to coast and border to border.

That’s what the Club has become for me – the people that I talk to and socialize with and get to know and can call friends.  For some, it’s a way to take their beloved Mercedes to show it off and compare notes with other Mercedes-Benz lovers at car shows and Concours in various locations.  For many more, it’s a resource for the technical knowledge that is available, through both our members and our award-winning Star magazine.

There’s a reason we are all here, even if it isn’t the same reason for everyone.  That’s why it’s so important to me to keep planning for the Club’s future.  I want to know that we can all still come together year after year and find that what we love about the Club is still here.  Last year was certainly painful in so many ways.  But it made me appreciate the events I’ve been to this year more than ever.  It’s been a joy to see people gathering around their Mercedes vehicles and laughing again.  It inspires me for all the hard work we still have ahead of us.

I still drive that fun car to get to those events, and to visit all those friends I’ve made.  Well, it’s not the same one.  In fact, it’s my third one, but it’s definitely fun to drive.  But the real fun is the events I get to attend and the friends I get to see again when I get there.  I hope I see you at one of our club events soon.
