Difficult as it is to believe, my first issue as Editor of The Star was published one year ago. The last 12 months have flown by, and the pace is only increasing. As our community emerges from one of the most unusual years in recent history, our renewed enthusiasm for life and activity is foremost in our minds. We're on the road, meeting up with friends, and we're thankful for every minute we have to enjoy together.

In keeping with that momentum, things are on the move here at The Star. We are always looking for ways to keep your membership magazine fresh and relevant to you. One way we're doing that is by updating the way we look at things. For example, in this issue you may notice that we have replaced the traditional "Buyer's Guide" feature with a new focus we call "Rising Star."

Our thinking is that we've covered the details of buying collectible Mercedes-Benz models very well in the past, and those details don't really change very much over time. To avoid repeating ourselves, we're going to look at car collecting in a different way. Rising Star will cover Mercedes-Benz models that are still available as plain old used cars, but which we think have a good chance of becoming collectible in the near future. Mainly that means models from the 1980s and later, which you can still buy for an affordable price. Our goal is to give you a jump on the market.

A final note: in the last issue and in this one, you'll see information about the Mercedes Freude convention happening in November. There is no better way to connect with your fellow enthusiasts than by attending this national event. I'm going, and I hope to see you there.
