Looking ahead to the heart of 2022

When we start work on a new issue of The Star, it’s hard to envision what the finished product will look like. For me, it starts with finalizing the cover art. After all, your reaction to that first image you see when the magazine arrives in your mailbox sets an expectation for what you’ll find inside.

Once the cover is in place, we dive in to write, edit and design the visual framework for the stories that both make each issue unique and help to bring your club to life six times a year.

What lies ahead

This time around, we’ll head to Europe for a guided R107 anniversary tour of five-star automotive attractions, and hop back across the ocean to the Bonneville Salt Flats to check in with MBCA member Bob Sirna on his latest efforts to push the envelope of speed. We’ll take an in-depth look at a gorgeous gray-market R107 280SL, and learn a bit about the long history of Mercedes-Benz excellence on the water, too. Speaking of the cover, our European Editor Simon Strang will dig deep into the most controversial finish to any Formula 1 season in memory.

Reader Rides

Most importantly, we’ve got a new installment of Reader Rides, our showcase for you to share your passion for your personal Mercedes-Benz. This helps keep the focus on you, the members of MBCA. Please continue sending us your photos and your personal stories.

So, 2022 is just getting started. I can’t wait to find out where we’re going to go this year.
